Hello!  Welcome to The Joyful Vegan!

My name is Alisa.  I'm a happily married mom of one amazing teenage boy.  I love spending time with family and friends, and have a small obsession with all things Disney.  Over the years, I have tried to start a number of blogs with not much success.  Usually life gets in the way, and the posts slowly die off.  I'm hoping this won't be the case for this blog.

The Creation of The Joyful Vegan

For the past few years I have noticed that my health is not what it used to be. I've tried several diets - Eat to Live, Keto, etc. - and had success.  Each had its own benefits, but also downfalls.  I had set a goal that I would look as good, or better, at 40 than I did at 30.  That didn't happen.  In fact, my weight, endurance, joints... everything has taken a downward turn and I'm tired of feeling this way.  I'm tired.. all the time.  I'm sore.. all the time.  I need to take my health back - both physical and mental.  I see the food we eat affecting my son, and I need to be a good role model for him so that he won't face the effects later in life.

So, I've done some research and I think this way of life will change things for the better.  I know it will be hard - basically doing a 180' turn from how I eat now.  Eliminating meat will be easy - eliminating sugar and dairy will be hard.

I hope this blog will be a place for me to stay accountable.  My posts may include things I've learned, struggles I've encountered, venting about how hard this is... but, ultimately, I hope it will shed light on the journey I'm about to embark on.  I hope, in a year's time, I will be a happier, healthier version of me.
